field is sound artist, composer and performer Joseph Young.

field recordings are produced binaurally, primarily for headphone listening. I create work for installations, broadcast, iPods, performance... The starting point is a location in space or time, and a desire to create a sonic response using sound walks, voice, narrative and spacial improvisation.

field is also a collaborative project with other sound artists, including my friend, the late Jo Lucas, who I worked with on two Sonic Postcards projects at Priory School, Lewes in 2005.

The Neo-Futurist Collective is a collaboration with a group of artists investigating the transformation of urban noise, inspired by the Art of Noises manifesto.

field radio is a monthly field recording radio programme by Joseph Young & Chris Umney - a celebration of the often ignored and unheard sounds of Brighton & Hove, a city by the sea, for Radio Reverb.
